Coclico Monarch Cork Sandal
Submitted by: Leigh
Coclico admits that there are still improvements to be made towards the sustainability of their shoes. That said, they have already tackled issues of waste, carbon, toxicity and human rights in the quest to make their shoes more environmentally friendly.
They use vegetable tanned leathers whenever possible. When they do use chrome tanned leather, they work only with tanneries that adhere strictly to EU regulations for water quality maintenance, efficiency practices, and chemical sequestration. All wood components are sustainably harvested under Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification. Cork can be harvested to ensure that the tree is not injured. All cork components are FSC-certified. Shoes are manufactured in Spain.
